We will run a relaxing pre-conference fieldtrip to the Peak District, led by Prof. Ed Rhodes, concentrating on fluvial and landslide sites around Hope and Edale on Sunday 8th September.
We shall not wander very far from the minibuses and will avoid strenuous hill climbs; we shall examine a nice suite of small fluvial terraces in these areas that have an interesting Late Pleistocene to Holocene chronology, and several large landslides.
Registration for the field trip is through the Conference Shop alongside registration. £15 for Full Members and £7 for Postgraduates/Retired/Unwaged.
Departure will be at 10.30 am from the Department of Geography on Winter Street, also picking up participants at Sheffield Railway Station at 10.45am (public Drop-Off/Pick-Up zone about 100m south of the main station building, just beyond the taxi rank). Return will be around 5.00 to 5.30pm at the Department of Geography and/or nearby accommodation.
Please bring a packed lunch with you and appropriate clothing for a day outdoors in the Peak District in September weather conditions (e.g. sun, rain, wind).
